Playfair’s Restaurant and Steakhouse

Playfairs Steakhouse and Restaurant St Andrews

Playfairs Steakhouse and Restaurant

Playfair’s Restaurant and Steakhouse is one of the oldest established restaurants in St Andrews and is the place to go for casual dining in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. All the our food is prepared from fresh locally sourced ingredients from local independent businesses wherever possible.

Along with the new grill menu, they also have an a la carte menu that is updated throughout the year with seasonal offerings. To complement the food, they have a wonderful wine list and a wide selection of beers for you to choose from, including St Andrews Ale and their very own Playfair’s Ale. Menus can be viewed and downloaded from the website.

Rocca Bar and Grill

The restaurant overlooks one of the most iconic sights in world sport, the 18th fairway of the famous Old Course at St Andrews. And beyond the course you can see the beautiful West Sands beach stretches on to the horizon.

Rocca Bar and Grill use locally sourced fresh Scottish ingredients to create their delicious and varied seasonal menus. Their food is inspired by classical Scottish cooking but with a creative Italian twist.

We would highly recommned their cocktails!

Doll’s House Restaurant

If you are looking to dine somewhere a little unusual, we highly recommend booking a table at St Andrews’ Doll’s House restaurant. The restaurants décor is completely unique, blending the aesthetics of a Victorian child’s bedroom with modern styling. The menu features a lot of local fish dishes and is extremely good value for money.

Zest

If you are looking for somewhere to grab a quick snack, head to Zest on South Street. They serve everything from toasties, to Panini’s and filled rolls, with great coffee to top it all off. It’s also a fantastic place for people watching and a student hotspot.

B Jannetta’s

It doesn’t have to be a hot day to enjoy a delicious ice cream! If you fancy trying out a few new flavours, head to B Jannetta’s! This is St Andrews’ original ice cream shop, selling a whopping fifty two flavours of ice cream. They also have an Italian-style café next door, which is extremely popular with tourists.

The Coffee House

If you are looking for a lovely little place to enjoy a hot cup of coffee, we highly recommend visiting The Coffee House at Greyfriars Garden. It is renowned in St Andrews for its fabulous range of specialist teas and coffees, so if you want something a little different from your English Breakfast Tea of Café Latte, this is the place to go.

Nahm Jim Restaurant

If you fancy a change from hearty British food, then we highly recommend heading to the Nahm Jim Restaurant for a night of Thai and Japanese cuisine. This family-run restaurant was voted the number one Thai restaurant in the UK (2008), by the Sunday Times and was a finalist in Gordon Ramsay’s Best Restaurant 2010.

Conclusion

Whilst there are plenty of other places to wine and dine in St Andrews, these are just a few of our favourites! No matter what is taking your fancy, you are sure to find a restaurant, café or bar that serves it here in St Andrews.
