The summer holidays; a time when many parents hold their heads in their hands and worry about how they will entertain their little tikes for 6 weeks.

If you are looking for ways to keep them entertained (as well as keep your sanity) then why not take a look at all the fantabulous things that St Andrews has for children? With so much to do in the area, there really is no excuse for them to say that they are bored!

The Aquarium

Love getting up close and personal with some of the creatures of the deep? If you do, then the St Andrews Aquarium should definitely be on the list of places to visit.

Whilst the Aquarium does boast a variety of fish (as expected of course) it also packs in plenty of other animals with penguins, meerkats, spiders, reptiles and seals also making an appearance.

Beaches

When the sun is shining every child loves nothing more than grabbing a bucket and spade, then heading to the beach. The best news is, St Andrews is known for its two beautiful beaches; East Sands and West Sands. Both have their own beautiful golden sands and if you pay West Sands a visit then you could even find yourself recreating the slow motion scene from Chariots of Fire with your little ones.

East Sands Leisure Centre

Want to splash around but not so keen on heading into the sea? At East Sands you can enjoy some water fun, whilst staying under cover. The Leisure Centre in East Sands not only has a great pool but here you will also find a giant flume and a fun inflatable too!

Museums

If you want to show your kids a touch of history and culture, then St Andrews has 4 great museums that you can pay a visit to. The British Golf Museum, The University Museum, St Andrews Preservation Trust and The Scottish Fisheries Museum are all in the area and give you a varied and interesting view of some of the culture and history.

St Andrews Castle

For those families that love the idea of dungeons and drawbridges; the St Andrews Castle is a must! More than just a historical monument, the castle has a whole variety of tunnels and rooms to explore that will have their imaginations racing as they race around!

Whether the weather is good or whether the weather is a little grey; there is something for every member of your family in the beautiful St Andrews area!

So what are you waiting for, turn off the TV, put down the tablet and get yourself to St Andrews. With so much to see and explore, you are sure to create some treasured family memories that you will remember long after the kids are back to school!
